The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread
15 April 2009 @ 12:12 am
I last left off, dear friends, on Tuesday in the late afternoon/early evening hours.

Post Abilene's tequila class, I met up with the Wifey and DCK for some laundry action. I <3 Rainbow Laundry in Uptown SO HARD. The people who run it are so sweet and the place is really comfy to hang out. We had tasty Chipotle for dinner, and a great time getting rid of unnecessary items. I totally got rid of so many shirts that reminded me of D and some assorted household items that reminded me of someone else. It's mega spring cleaning time in my world--stay tuned for a totally emo post about everything that's happened in the span of the last 365 days. Those posts aren't limited to New Year's. ;)

Wednesday, the Wifey and I got up and did our usual morning work out, coupled with a tasty lunch. I think this is the day that all I really had to eat was peanut butter sammiches. I really need some sammich meat. :P It was another successful SPW. We had Raw Food as the theme, and Ryan made us sushi! We are so spoiled. :)

Thursday, had another lovely work out with the Wifey. I love being active! I can definitely feel it when I haven't been keeping it up. Plus, it's been great that we get there when nobody else is there, so I can watch TCM. I <3 old movies! My last shift at the Vesc was nice, I made some good tips, and got the eff out of dodge. This was the day that Jerry found out about his job letting him go. I had hoped to meet up with him, but he had something going on in Saint Paul, so I decided to go home. As per my usual, I didn't stay home long--I was too antsy to stay in. The Wifey and DCK met up with me at Plan B for some late night beverages and gabbing. So great are my friends!

Friday, got up super early and worked out with Ryan! That was a surprising turn of events. I think he overdid it a bit on the machines and the lifting. I hope he keeps it up so it gets easier and less hard on his muscles. I know I had to get over that initial week or so before my body stopped complaining. I hopped on the scooter and headed up to el Arden B. Had a very lovely lazy Friday, learning how to play Beautiful Katamari (that I now can't wait to play again!) and watching movies. Jerry and I had a wonderful dinner of chicken, veggies, bread and Lambic. Many episodes of my favorite British comedy were watched while imbibing said Lambic.

Saturday, slept in until noon, maybe noon-thirty. Had a lovely breakfast at 2:30 on a sunny porch. Bummed about the Arden B, then headed to see the Roller Girls. It was a very exciting bout, and I'm anticipating seeing many more next season! I'm still sad about Savage Animal breaking her leg. I hope she recovers soon. :) Brandy, JD, Carrie, Jerry and I went to the 331, only to decide it was too crowded. We substituted the Knight's Cap for a round of beverages post-bout. We ended up back at Brandy and JD's place for some late night Venture Brothers. I can't wait to see the first two seasons so that season 3 will make more sense. :P

Sunday, got up at the crack of dawn to head back to Minneapolis. I got to Tiff's place FAR too early, so I chilled with Pixie and Daphne for a bit before disturbing Tiff's beauty sleep. ;) Worked out with the Wifey, had some lunch, then bummed about the house doing laundry and the likes until it was time for SPS. SPS was fairly short-lived this time around. I'm sadly anticipating this coming to a close for the season. I think a lot of us (myself included) aren't enjoying the venue change, as well as the SEASON change--it's totally time for outside activities! :) Jess, Bertine and Zach came over for an Easter nightcap. Good times were had by all.

Monday, got up for a workout with the Pantswife, then off to my first day with my new client. It's...interesting. We'll leave it at that. I went on a very cathartic scoot around town. Procured tasty dinner items (read: ROCK YOUR FACE OFF MEXICAN FOOD!) from may locations around town. I rocked everyone's faces off at Amanda's for some bitchin' board game goodness. I'm still aching to play more Amanda-fam House Rules UNO. It was so much fun! Jerry came over and fixed my computer. I think we got rid of 15 gigs of stupid crap that was crapping up my computer. It's still not running terribly fast, but it's a start.

Today, being Tuesday, got up and went for a workout downtown. I love that we've been keeping this up on a regular basis! :D Met up with Jerry and the Wifey and had a low-key workout. I drank too much water and got a little sick twice. :( Had another day with the new client...yeah. Went on yet another cathartic scoot about the town. Keep your eyes peeled for pictures! Post-scoot, met up with DCK over here so I could take a shower and change clothes. Went to the Wifey's place for an epic girl's night. DCK, Wifey and Bertine were all in attendance. We had many good foods, chats and laughs. I <3 my girls.

That leaves us where we are right now. Tired, sore, in need of a back rub, maybe a beer. Unfortunately, I have none cold, so it will have to be a Jynnan Tonnyx if I do decide on a beverage other than water. I have many pictures to get through from the last two days. I think you'll like what you see.

<3

The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread
16 March 2009 @ 04:19 pm
It's been another week since I've really updated with anything of substance. ARG, WHY MUST I BE SO BUSY?

Monday: Mom came to get Darin. We tried to go to see Coraline, but we were late. Went shopping and out to lunch instead. Had a tasty burrito bol at Chipotle. MMM, SO GREAT. Made it to werk at 3pm. We had a whopping 8 tables between two servers from 3pm till we closed at 8pm. I'm glad we got to close early, because that meant I got to go to Bingo at the VFW with mah Wifey, Amanda, and Jerry B. We didn't win, but we still had fun. :) Hung out at my place with Jess and Jerry for a while playing Rock Band. Good times.

Tuesday: Went to the gym with the Wifey. Visited with Tiff for a while before that. Post work-out, we got Subway for lunch. TASTY! I worked at 4:30pm. I had ONE TABLE. So not worth the trip, but at least it's a shift. :( After werk, hung out with Meeeeeguel for a bit. Tried to do laundry. Didn't get very far on that one.

Wednesday: I got up at some ungodly hour of the morning to brave the Mall of America with the Pantsfam. Mom and I shopped while Darin and his friend rode rides. We ate at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Corporation. SO GREAT! I <3 shrimp. :) I found the CUTEST dress at Macy's, but I just can't justify that kind of $$ on ONE piece of clothing. :( Had a rough night at SPW. We'll see how the move to Ryan's goes over with the crowd.

Thursday: Worked a double at the Vesc. I had TWO TABLES. The last of the two ignored their bill for about an hour, keeping me there till 7:30. Goo. I had a much needed girl's night at Bertine's with Crystal and Jess in tow. Tasty dinner, tasty wine, tasty desserts...just what the doctor ordered. My back had started hurting on Wednesday, so I took some ibuprofen at Bertine's to calm it down.

Friday: Went to the gym with Jess again. I had planned on sleeping in, doing copious amounts of paperwork (taxes, etc) but didn't have a chance. Corey asked me to take his serving shift, and I did. I made about $60, which is awesome. Totally better than sitting at home contemplating doing laundry. :P Friday night, Jerry B. and I watched a couple of movies. I was in so much unbearable pain that I had to take ibuprofen at 5:30 when I got to work, again at 8:30ish when I got off work, again at home around 10:15, and again at midnight. I spent much of the evening icing my back and complaining of the pain. I'm so much fun to hang out with. :P

Saturday: Got up and went to Tiff's. Jess met me there, and we worked out pre-lunch and pedicures. Had tasty Asian buffet at the Midtown Global Market, then hit up Lupita's for $25 pedicures. SO GREAT. Thanks again to Bertine. That was very generous of you to treat us all, girlie. :) Went home for a bit to shower and shave. Put on my bikini and a white bathrobe to go jam out at Memory Lanes for the Lebowski tribute night. I won 2nd place in the costume contest, only because Asian Dan is a dirty cheater. :P Meeeeeguel had messed up his arm, presumably while sleeping the night before. He had (and continues to have) no sensation or control over much of his left (dominant) arm. I'm glad he came out with us. It wouldn't have been much fun to sit at home alone after a day in the hospital like that. :( He did well bowling right handed, and seemed to have fun. Again, I'm really glad he came out with us. :) We ended the night with Asian Dan scraping someone's mirror off their car--he left his name and number. I'm glad I have such great friends. :) We made a late night Taco Bell run and got tasty foods to help sober up the party people. I got to drive Joe's new car! SEXY. I think I finally made it to bed after 4. Arg, some day this extreme lack of sleep will catch up with me. :P

Sunday: Got up and went to Tiff's. I headed out to brunch at Abilene, Tank Girl costume makings in tow. Met Jess, Crystal, Sarah and James for a tasty Super Hero brunch. We got $5 off our meals. Can't shake a stick at that! :) As I was about to hit the proverbial hay at home, I gave Meeeeeguel a call to check in on him and his arm. He wasn't having the best day, so I headed over to his place to visit. We went to the Bad Waitress. I drank half a pot of coffee, he ate an omelet. Crystal picked me up from his place and we headed to SPS. There was a varied crowd, and the vibe was a little off. Crystal left very early due to a friend in need. Amanda had to jet to get a good night's sleep before work today. Jess and I were tired, so we headed out around 10. We tried to get DOLLAR TACOS at Chino as a late night snack, but we got stuck with the bitchy waitress who wouldn't tell us what time it was, so we left, opting to pick up goodies at Lund's. We saw Dane (my favorite grocer) and got our snacks. Headed home, but there was a weird vibe here, too! I headed over to Jess' place and we gabbed till all hours. I slept on her couch and we got up today to go to the chiropractor, thy gym, and Target. I <3 my Wifey. :D

Monday: Just like I said, got up, went to the chiro, the gym, the Target. Got lots of tasty foods. Crystal and Jess will be here around 6 or so to help me CLEAN. Why I have not done this before now is beyond me. I'll have to start thinking about packing it all up again someday soon, anyhow. :P As soon as a person gets settled in, that's when living situations change. Bleh.

You can tell I'm feeling better, because I am craving Thai food like a crazy person! I could also REALLY go for a burrito from Chipotle. Sadly, I am not craving these things enough to brave the hell that is a Minnesota winter. :P

I'm having the BEST Chipotle I've had in YEARS. YEARS, I tell you. Why, you ask? I'll tell you. Here is a run down of what I am eating:

* LOTS of rice
* barbacoa (shh, I know I'm supposedly vegetarian)
* sour cream
* cheese
* mild salsa
* the juice from the barbacoa

Eat this with chips, and it's the most AWESOME lunch you'll ever have. Not. Even. Kidding.

I am SO addicted to teh intarwebs. I've been without them for about a week...and I've been going CRAZY! :P

Actually, I've been pretty busy, so it's prolly a good thing that I haven't had internet at home. Keeps me able to go on projects. Re-arranged the whole apartment. It actually looks really good. Whenever Jon brings home two or four chairs for our new table, we'll be in business to have a dinner party!

Bought myself roses yesterday. That made me happy. I bought a vase for them tonight. Floral wholesalers rule. Four dozen roses for $20. I RULE.

Visited my crew tonight. They made me feel SO FLIPPIN' BEAUTIFUL. I haven't seen them in two weeks, and the only one who recognised me was my good friend Hosway (Josue). They all commented on how beautiful my eyes are and how GOOD I looked. My favorite was Eduardo, who said, "Oh my goodness, Jess, you look PRETTY!"

I'm still smiling. :D Like that.

Having a girl's night in with Andy tomorrow night. Yes, Andy is short for Andrea, not Andrew. We're going to drink and bitch. That makes me happy.

Keep in touch with your good pal SBj. She's bored with December. ;)

I hate not having consistent internet. I don't mind that I don't pay for it, but I don't like not having it when I want it. I'm cheap, I know. :P

Earlier today, I had some rant I wanted to post about work. Fuck work. I'm going to lower my minimum salary requirements just so I can get out of Chipotle. Even at $11-14/hr, that's pretty close to what I make now, and if you factor in overtime, that evens it out, if not betters it. As long as I can have a shibby day if I want to, listen to music other than fucking Mexican crap, and wear business casual clothing to work, I'll be happy.

If you ever want free Chipotle, all you need to do is go complain through the website. Make sure you leave info for them to contact you back (phone numbers work wonders), and tell them which store you had a bad experience at, and what exactly happened. They will give you burrito bucks, buy you food, wahtever it takes to make you happy. Like this one bitch two nights ago. She claims through the website that her last order was half wrapped and smooshed, and "not acceptable for a good place to eat". She wrote like a fucking CAVEMAN. She asked how big of an order she could place, and I asked her how many she thought it would be for. She said maybe ten. They faxed over an order for 25. FUCKING SHIT I hate my job sometimes. Goo.

I hate it again tonight. I offered to cover a shift on my day off, for another store. I asked if she would come work at my store next week to make up for it. She said yes. Other managers do this all the time--we're on the same team, and we are trained the same way, so it shouldn't make a difference what store we work at. Jean, my SRM, chewed me a new asshole tonight through email about the fact that she doesn't want this other manager to work at our store EVER. I am talking to my area manager tomorrow, because this is a load of SHIT.

Someone hire me to do desk work....PLEASE?!?!?

I'm so excited...here are the flight details of my trip to Colorado!!

Steph said that there is a Chipotle just down the street from the airport...or something. I'll have to go there and check it out. Maybe they'll give me a tour. ;)

Oh, and Steph...I know I'm in town early, but I'm totally at your mercy when it comes to everything. You guys RULE so much for letting me crash with you while I'm in town. If I can meet you somewhere in Denver, just let me know. I'm all about hanging out on the bus/subway. ;)

Well, there is really only good to report. :) Which is good. Ha.

I got transferred to the Saint Louis Park Chipotle as of Monday. That makes me happy. Happy Jess!! I had my assessment on Wednesday and was offered a job ten minutes after it was over. WOOOOOO! We just have to see how my application and salary request are met. Ha. There was a panicky five minutes spent thinking they were going to send me back to Calhoun. Don't get me wrong, I love the crew to death. However, there is no denying that Kate and I would have to sit down and have a heart to heart and beat the personal differences out of each other before that would work. I told Rafael that I would go if he wanted me to, but that I felt there was more for me to learn here and that everyone would be happier if I didn't go back to Calhoun only days after being transferred away. Then he offered me the job (at SLP) and I stopped panicking. Joy!

On the same note, since I don't work at Calhoun any more, Mike and I are becoming better friends. It's kind of like we didn't realise how much we'd miss each other. AWWWWW! Aren't we so cute you wanna puke?! Hah. We're going out for a beer with him tomorrow night, and to the midnight movie (The Goonies) at the Uptown next Saturday. Woo! I lurve me some Mike.

My kiki babies are being so sweet. Norman has been a really good influence on Vern. That makes me happy. I'm glad that Vern doesn't bite our hands off any more, and when he does bite, it's usually just playing. Before, it was kind of mean. Butthead.

Jon cleaned our living room hardcore today. Hopefully we'll get to the rest of the place soon. I want all of you lovelies to be able to come over and hang out. :D

I'm getting married! In 22 days, to be exact. That's all.

I get to go to sleep now. We have a long day ahead of us. Going to the courthouse to get our wedding stuffage, paying rent, hanging out with Dani, picking up my dress, sending out mail...wow, busy day!

Here's to a fun weekend, everyone! I've got my little brother for the weekend...into Monday. Mom and Doug are in Laughlin, Nevada. Woo! I wish I were somewhere a little warmer than MN. :/

jealous gf rant )

I've got my period. That's a good thing, because it means we're not having any babies any time soon. One less worry at this point. That's also a bad thing, because it makes me all emotional, crampy, and craving chocolate. I didn't have my period for four years, basically the entire span of my college career. This is only the third time, I think, since getting off depo that I've had it. THIS SUCKS! I would give anything to go back to depo. Seriously.

I hate being all emotional. That's why I'm feeling all jealous right now, I think. The rest of it stems back to previous relationships going bad, but that's what I get, I guess. Grr on liking boys so much!

That's really all I've got to say right now. I'm tired. I want to go to bed. I wnat my kitties to come lay on the bed with me. :) I lurve me some kitties. :)

Oh, and I've been looking for a new job. Next week will be my third week with only four days, and something around thirty hours. At 9$/hr, that's no way to make a living. :/ I'm ready to tell Kate she can take her job and stick it up her ass.

SBj is UBER PISSED. Well, not UBER PISSED, but I'm on my way...

So the sucktastic guy, Roberto, did NOT get signed off to be a supervisor. Yeay! That makes my day. The part that DOESN'T make my day is the fact that he will, as of Monday 1/23, be making $9.25/hr. I only make $9/hr. Granted, Kate and I have talked about the fact that I will be getting promoted soonish, but she didn't say when, or what that would entail. That *really* pisses me off that he's going to make more $$ than me and do less work. FUCKING GRR.

So yeah...there's this guy at work who is training to be a supervisor. I have to be at the store at the same time to 'supervise' him and let him run shifts without the store burning down. HE SUCKS. If Kate (my manager) wouldn't have shown up, I would have put in for a transfer to another store today.

He's a male supremacist, to put it short and sweet...if you can call it sweet. He believes that women are men's subordinates, and that they should be in the home, not the workplace. He also has no management experience, no concept of timing/tact, and an overdeveloped sense of being able to delegate tasks.

What I mean by all of that: he feels that even though it's his shift, and I said that I would be checking the lobby and finishing the order paperwork, I ended up doing all the work. He asked me where my hat was when I was making a burrito instead of waiting until I had a free minute to step off of his fucking line and doing it in private, instead of in front of a customer. I would be doing his job, he would step in and 'take over' what I had already almost finished, and then send me off to do something else that he jsut as easily could have done himself.

FUCKING SHIT I'M PISSED OFF.

I need to work in a bigger store. Granted, I really like Calhoun, but I don't like half the people, and they already have a bad opinion of me from Carlos. Yeah, from the guy that quit! He said to everybody--behind my back--that I was getting special treatment and the reason my training was done first was because they liked me better. Then Roberto comes back today, and everyone would not speak English to me, they would either speak Spanish to me, or talk to Roberto and then Roberto would talk to me. I can't work like that for much longer. Supposedly Roberto is getting 'signed off' to be a sup on his own this week, but if it were up to me, that would never happen. Seriously.

Grr, I'm done being pissed. I don't have to deal with him again--I hope--until Friday of next week...and that makes me happy.

So, I think the best thing remotely new year's related that happened to me was the fact that I was working on NYE. Mike, the other supervisor, came back to tell me a story about some lady who was ordering while I was counting down my drawer. I wasn't there, so I don't know the entirety of the conversation, but I know it went something like this:

Lady, to Mike: Do you know why I'm ordering a bowl *and* a burrito?
Mike, to Lady: Um...no?
Lady, to Mike: The burrito is for today. I'm going to eat that here. The bowl, I'm getting to go. That way, when you guys are all closed tomorrow, I can *still* have Chipotle, even tho you aren't open! Unlike all the rest of the morons out there, who are only ordering their food for today, I'll be the only one with Chipotle for tomorrow. Uh-huh, I was thinking ahead.

If I had been out there taking her order, I would have bought her food for her. Seriously. SHe's scary.

I'm getting over having the flu...so's Jon. We've been soooo sick. I think I got it a little worse, otherwise he just doesn't complain as much as I do. :P

Got my first lay of the new year tonight...er, technically it was last night, since it's now technically the 2nd here in MN. I got laid the night of January 1st! Woo!

Had Mom, Doug, Chris and Darin down for dinner with Jon's parents. I think things went well. Prolly wasn't the best idea to have them all meet for the first time over a religious holiday, espeically over one that Jon's dad feels pretty passionately about. Oh well. They had to hang out sometime. It was nice. Good food, good company, fun times. :)

We're off to sleep now. Jon works in the morning, I work at night. Tomorrow night, we're totally trading with Papa John's pizza. I'm so stoked!

I feel so icky...and I have to close by myself tonight. At least I have the day off tomorrow, right? Right...

Anyone in the MPLS area should come to the Calhoun Chipotle and wish me well on my first solo closing shift. I'm excited, but mostly I'm hungry--haven't eaten since yesterday morning, really--and headach-y. Blech...

Forgot I had the option to request direct deposit advance from my paycheck. Used it and am currently paying off my bills. I'm bummed that my paycheck on Friday will now be about half its regular size, but it's the price you have to pay to be on time with everything.

I'm out. Time to catch the bus and go to work.
