I made the mistake of mentioning what route I was planning on taking--169 to HWY 10. She flipped out and said it wasn't a good idea. To no avail, I kept asking what route she would recommend. Finally, it was decided that 169 to 10 would be best. WTF. :P
After my shower, I started up my bike and zipped out of town. I have to say that I will NEVER take that route again--HWY 169 is freakin' SCARY on a scooter. I was even going 65mph (in a 55mph zone) and people were FLYING past. Yuck.
I'm pretty sure I left by 12:05pm. I arrived in Big Lake around 1:15pm. Not too shabby! I even had to stop for gas once.
Pulled into the parking lot for the dental office and hurried inside. I knew I'd have lots of paperwork to fill out, as it's been since 2004 since I've been to this office. Filled out my paperwork, got some x-rays done, and was left in the uncomfortable chair to wait for the dentist to arrive.
Unfortunately, I was unable to see my regular dentist this time, as his schedule is booked out about three weeks. His name is Dr. Dill and he ROCKS. I was informed that I would have to see Dr. Dill's new assistant, Dr. Bril. When I walked back to the room, I passed a crusty old bald dude and was immediately terrified--Dr. Bril?!
Sitting nervously and shivering from the cold, in walks in the hottest dentist I have ever seen. He's tall, got a beautiful smile, dark hair, a baby face... Oh, man. If ONLY I had nice teeth. I wish I had gotten a picture.
I sat in that chair, smelling his cologne (Armani?) and staring at his beautiful face. He had my head virtually in his lap and kept calling me by name. *sigh* I will go to the dentist once a week just for that!
New temporary crown in place, I left the office talking like I'd just had a stroke. I called mom up and we agreed to meet for lunch at the Chinese place in town. Many tasty items were had, and I will definitely go back to that buffet. Tasty!
I stopped out to the house for a bit to see Darin. Joe came over to see mah bike. He likes it, but wants something a little more...macho. ;)
Since it started to look like rain, I decided to head out around 7. That gave me two hours to make it back to the cities. Mom and I found a great route to go home--101 to 81, 81 to Theodore Wirth Parkway, TWP turns into a bunch of back roads that drop me about four blocks from home. AWESOME!
On the way home, I'm in Brooklyn Park on 81, contemplating stopping for gas. No sooner had I had this epiphany, I ran out of gas. Sputter, sputter, cough, cough, STOP. Fuck. It happened to be at the ONE corner of the city that has no gas stations at it. There are a bunch of Supermercados and tobacco shops, but no gas.
The nearest gas station, I found out, was about 8 blocks away. Good thing I like to walk.
I had the good fortune of finding a REALLY nice guy fixing his car with his two kids running about. I asked to borrow a gas can, and he directed me to the station. On my way back from the station, it starts to rain. If it's not one thing, it's sure as hell going to be another, right? Right...
Got my bike gassed up. Took long enough, as I couldn't remember how to work a gas can. Totally forgot to open the little air valve at the back. I thought there was something stuck in the can! Figured it out, filled up, got on my way home. There were a few terrifying moments that I might get busted for no plates on my bike (haven't transfered the title yet) and that I was driving at night with only a permit.
There was a park cop with a stopped gas upright scooter thing that was being driven on the walking path. I passed him slowly, and of course, he whipped around and started to follow me. I was going the speed limit, had a helmet and eyewear, so THANKFULLY I was not stopped. No idea what deterred him, but I'm happy.
Got home and locked up the bike for the night using my new motorcycle cover! I got it off eBay for $20 delivered! Much better deal than $50 at Scooterville.
When I got upstairs, Mr. Kitteh's new kitty tree had arrived! I spent about half an hour putting it together IKEA style. I hope he likes it.
I meant to read a book before sleep, but kitteh was in a cuddly mood for a few minutes, so we cuddled and then I crashed. I need to start sleeping more. :P
