The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread
Oh, man. Yesterday was an ADVENTURE. I left werk at 11:40 (ten minutes later than I wanted to) and rushed home to shower and get on mah bike. All was going well until I talked to my mom on the phone. I had wanted to meet up for lunch, but due to the late departure from werk, it was not a possibility. I knew it was going to take longer on the scooter than it would in a car, so I didn't want to run late by meeting for lunch.

I made the mistake of mentioning what route I was planning on taking--169 to HWY 10. She flipped out and said it wasn't a good idea. To no avail, I kept asking what route she would recommend. Finally, it was decided that 169 to 10 would be best. WTF. :P

After my shower, I started up my bike and zipped out of town. I have to say that I will NEVER take that route again--HWY 169 is freakin' SCARY on a scooter. I was even going 65mph (in a 55mph zone) and people were FLYING past. Yuck.

I'm pretty sure I left by 12:05pm. I arrived in Big Lake around 1:15pm. Not too shabby! I even had to stop for gas once.

Pulled into the parking lot for the dental office and hurried inside. I knew I'd have lots of paperwork to fill out, as it's been since 2004 since I've been to this office. Filled out my paperwork, got some x-rays done, and was left in the uncomfortable chair to wait for the dentist to arrive.

Unfortunately, I was unable to see my regular dentist this time, as his schedule is booked out about three weeks. His name is Dr. Dill and he ROCKS. I was informed that I would have to see Dr. Dill's new assistant, Dr. Bril. When I walked back to the room, I passed a crusty old bald dude and was immediately terrified--Dr. Bril?!

Sitting nervously and shivering from the cold, in walks in the hottest dentist I have ever seen. He's tall, got a beautiful smile, dark hair, a baby face... Oh, man. If ONLY I had nice teeth. I wish I had gotten a picture.

I sat in that chair, smelling his cologne (Armani?) and staring at his beautiful face. He had my head virtually in his lap and kept calling me by name. *sigh* I will go to the dentist once a week just for that!

New temporary crown in place, I left the office talking like I'd just had a stroke. I called mom up and we agreed to meet for lunch at the Chinese place in town. Many tasty items were had, and I will definitely go back to that buffet. Tasty!

I stopped out to the house for a bit to see Darin. Joe came over to see mah bike. He likes it, but wants something a little more...macho. ;)

Since it started to look like rain, I decided to head out around 7. That gave me two hours to make it back to the cities. Mom and I found a great route to go home--101 to 81, 81 to Theodore Wirth Parkway, TWP turns into a bunch of back roads that drop me about four blocks from home. AWESOME!

On the way home, I'm in Brooklyn Park on 81, contemplating stopping for gas. No sooner had I had this epiphany, I ran out of gas. Sputter, sputter, cough, cough, STOP. Fuck. It happened to be at the ONE corner of the city that has no gas stations at it. There are a bunch of Supermercados and tobacco shops, but no gas.

The nearest gas station, I found out, was about 8 blocks away. Good thing I like to walk.

I had the good fortune of finding a REALLY nice guy fixing his car with his two kids running about. I asked to borrow a gas can, and he directed me to the station. On my way back from the station, it starts to rain. If it's not one thing, it's sure as hell going to be another, right? Right...

Got my bike gassed up. Took long enough, as I couldn't remember how to work a gas can. Totally forgot to open the little air valve at the back. I thought there was something stuck in the can! Figured it out, filled up, got on my way home. There were a few terrifying moments that I might get busted for no plates on my bike (haven't transfered the title yet) and that I was driving at night with only a permit.

There was a park cop with a stopped gas upright scooter thing that was being driven on the walking path. I passed him slowly, and of course, he whipped around and started to follow me. I was going the speed limit, had a helmet and eyewear, so THANKFULLY I was not stopped. No idea what deterred him, but I'm happy.

Got home and locked up the bike for the night using my new motorcycle cover! I got it off eBay for $20 delivered! Much better deal than $50 at Scooterville.

When I got upstairs, Mr. Kitteh's new kitty tree had arrived! I spent about half an hour putting it together IKEA style. I hope he likes it.

I meant to read a book before sleep, but kitteh was in a cuddly mood for a few minutes, so we cuddled and then I crashed. I need to start sleeping more. :P

First stop was the Independent. We had to use our awesome decoding powers to figure out that the whole appetizer menu was NOT $5—it was only the apps with the RED DOTS. Bummer, but still tasty. Anney (for some strange reason) ate Boston Market before coming out with us. She put both Amanda and I to shame by (later) eating ONE TORTILLA CHIP. Yes. One. WTF.

We got a pretty decent table, and it was next to a ROCKIN’ crowd, mainly rowdy black dudes. At one point, we were extremely interested in what they were talking about, so I wandered over to inquire. I ended up shaking my ass (don’t act like you’re not impressed) and the group got shushed by the uppity wait staff. LAME.

We tried to move downstairs to Figlio, but they were so freakin’ crowded that we decided we wanted to go elsewhere. We ended up back at the Independent for more 2-4-1 drinks. WOO JYNNANTONNYX. This is when Anney’s infamous ONE CHIP came into play. Amanda and I know that we can handle our liquor, but we need a little sustenance (not in liquid form) to keep us going. Anney is apparently a champ when it comes to the booze—either that, or she ate the Boston Marked out of business before she came over.

2nd run of Independent brought much humor. We drunk dialed, drunk texted, lost Anney to some people at the bar, and discussed PLINKO with many other bar patrons. We even managed to bring up the Yodeling Mountain Climber game. SCORE.

When we got sick of the Independent (as drunk people will do), we tried Chino Latino. SO crowded, with a 1 hour wait for three girls to get a table. We headed elsewhere after bouncing around on the mental hospital soft wall.

Five words for the trip to Williams: THE MAC STORE IS SHUT

At Williams, Anney ordered me a Red Bull and vodka. Holy shit is all I can say to that. We sang many awesome 80’s and 90’s hits along with the jukebox, lost Anney AGAIN (this time to some people in the basement), I paid for the bill with someone else’s signature (lulz), and took many cell phone pictures. Hooray for new picture caller IDs. :D

We met back up with Anney downstairs and much eating of popcorn and peanuts ensued. When we left, I brought the popcorn with. IT WAS SO GOOD, GUYS. I even flossed my teeth when I got home!

I don’t 100% remember getting home, but I’m glad someone was sober enough to drive my drunk ass home. Much fun was had by all, and I woke up the next morning at 6:30 with the intense need to pee and drink water. I was still drunk, and I swear I can still taste the gin today.

I can’t wait to find out what happens on our next adventure!

I totally had a movie moment happen today. I was at the grocery store, walking through the meat section on my way to the dairy section. I had my sunglasses on, walking kind of slowly, when the song "Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison came on. Two stock boys in meat bumped into each other, another in dairy dropped what he was stocking, and the last one in dairy stopped stocking the shelves and stared open-mouthed.

Alright, who's following me around staging movie scenes without my prior written consent? I would have made sure to do my hair for the occasion. :P

We got up at a decent hour, had a shower and some breakfast. We packed up so we didn't have to go all the way back to the cabin before leaving town.

Spent a couple of hours hanging out and suddenly, the party was over! We got headed back to Minneapolis at 2, and were back in Saint Louis Park at 5:30. I think we may or may not have been traveling at speeds in excess of the posted speed limit. :P

We visited with her for a while, then had to get going so he could play basketball with his cousins. Turned out they decided not to play, so I took him to Uptown for his surprise. He's been waiting for this for about two weeks (reference post in [info]twin_cities about retro video games). At the CC Club (26th and Lyndale), they have A TABLETOP MS. PACMAN! They also have a Big Buck Hunter game, and of course, that's what he wanted to play. I broke the top score on the Ms. Pacman while he shot deer and elk. :P I hate waiting to give people surprises, but I think it was worth it.

I listened to some hippies bitch about the environmental harm that cars do, and then go out about fifteen times to smoke cigarettes. WTF, I hate hypocrites. I bet about half of them DROVE to the freakin' bar, too.

Came home, had dinner and worked on putting photos up online. I think we did a good job, and it's GREAT to be home after four days.

Happy Halloween!!

See, not just [info]tassypink dresses up her dog for Halloween...there are other silly puppy parents that do it, too! This is the family dog, Missy. She hated her Yoda costume, even tho she looked so cute in it. Next year, Vern's in for it! HA!

Darin is much more ninja than you are.

Went on a hay ride with some of Darin's little friends around the neighborhood. Drank hot cocoa and peppermint schnapps from a Blue's Clues glass...somewhat incongruent. Good (and cold) times were had by all.

Vern and Jess are going on a road trip to Elk River this morning. It's Darin's first day of school, and this will be the third year in a row that I've been there for it. I wouldn't miss it for the world. :) I'm also going to get a bunch of kitty litter at the grain elevator, some salt wheels for the bunnies, and some veggies. Hopefully, Dani and Jon will come and meet us halfway later so we can have dinner and chill out. I'm stuck in Elk River till Mom gets home after her Guthrie show. :P

For those of you that are still in town and not at Anime Iowa, there will be much hanging out at Lake Calhoun tomorrow, Saturday, August 5th. I'll be there around 1pm or so, sometime after I take a bike ride. Think 1:30 or 2 to be safe, if you are an abnormally prompt person *cough* [info]styletax *cough*. In lieu of Twister, since nobody ever seems to want to play, there will be Spongebob Squarepants Ants in my Pants! I totally scored that at Target downtown today for $1.74. I think it was a mis-label, but they had to give it to me at that price. SCORE!

Lake Calhoun!

1pm, Saturday, August 5th.

Be there or be a triangle!

Playing around with flickrtoys. Too fun!

Spent a good portion of last night and this morning being sicker than a dog. :( That's what I get for eating meat, right? Yup. If only the chicken had fully cooked, I [probably] wouldn't be this sick. Beef sucks! It's becoming something of a tradition for me to be seriously ill on the 5th of July due to something stupid done on the 4th. I wish Dani had been here last night to make me puke, and that I wouldn't remember the puking. I might follow last year and have Chipotle for dinner today. Ha!

Off to work...I don't wanna!

Wow, had a few too many beers last night. Tiff saw me and she said I wasn't acting drunk, so hopefully I wasn't, but I'm feeling the dehydratedness this morning. WOO!

So much fun was had at Lake Calhoun last night...beer, pizza delivered, hanging out. We decided we're going to do it again today! :D So...

If you're not doing anything today, we're meeting at Lake Calhoun. 4pm on the 4th of July! We'll start at the side of the lake where West Lake Calhoun Parkway and Xerxes meet up, and then move toward the volleyball courts for some grilling and music. Bring food to grill and some tasty beverages to share. Bring some outdoor friendly games and/or music, and we'll make a night of it!

Hope to see you all there!!

It's officially 3am. I've been up since 6am Saturday, after a close open Friday, an open to 3:30 Saturday, some much needed chatting about Jon's business stuff, and a midnight movie (The GOONIES!!!) at the Uptown. SO much fun! Eric the Bou, Tiff, her Mike, Miguel and his Laura all came, too! A good time was had by all. :) Oh, yeah. Miguel and Laura are the CUTEST EVAR. For real.

There is seriously something wrong with the fucker next door's buzzer in door thingie. It's been going off for about twelve hours now. It could have even been going on longer. I don't know because I didn't get home till around 4. :/

Jon is crazy. He wants to set up his myspace thingie tonight. Fucker, it's after 3. We can do that tomorrow.
